2025 Quilt Entry Rules

South Florida Quilt Expo (SFQE) 2025 includes judged & exhibit only (non judged) quilts. Please read all rules carefully before filling out the online entry  form. Entrants are welcome to enter as many quilts as they would like unless otherwise noted. Quilt entry is open to all quilters, unless otherwise noted  in a specific category. Quilts must be made within the past 3 years. 

GENERAL RULES 

  1. All quilters are eligible to enter quilts in the show – the number of entries  per quilter is not limited. 

  2. Entry fees are reduced for members of the eight SFQE participating guilds.  

  3. Mail-in entrants are responsible for return postage and insurance if  needed.

All entered quilts must meet the following requirements  NO EXCEPTIONS

  1. Consist of 3 layers (backing, batting, quilt top) joined together by  stitching – hand tied quilts will not be accepted. 

  2. Made within  the last 3 years 

  3. Have a finished edge such as binding or facing. 

  4. Preprinted panels must be incorporated as part of a larger quilt.

  5. Have a 4” sleeve attached at the top of the quilt or 86” from the bottom of  large quilts. 

  6. Have an identifying label. Labels must be covered for judging.  

  7. Each quilt must be in its own pillowcase with the entrant’s name, phone and/or email permanently attached to the pillowcase.

  8. SFQE reserves the right to disqualify entries with incomplete or inaccurate  entry forms or to reject any quilts that are in visibly poor condition,  including but not limited to: torn fabrics, stains, strong odors, or  unfinished. 

  9. All major contributors to the entered quilt should be identified – i.e., the  block maker or makers, the piecer, the quilter, if applicable. 

  10. Entry fees are non-refundable, and all entered quilts must be received on  or before (for mailed in entries) quilt collection day.

  11. The decisions of the SFQE board and the judge are final. 

  12. SFQE does not discriminate against entrants on the basis of race, sex,  age, disability, religion, national or ethnic origins, sexual orientation,  marital status, or any other protected status. 

  13. Every effort will be made to display all quilts entered based on available  space. 

PHOTOS 

Following the online entry process, entrants will be required to submit a photo- no exceptions. One photo of front of quilt. Once you receive your  email receipt- please submit your photo with your order number in the subject field and email to Chairman@browardquiltexpo.com 

RELEASE 

By entering your quilt, you agree to the following conditions: 

You have read and understand the entry rules and agree to abide by  them. 

SFQE reserves the right to disqualify any quilt that it deems to be  misrepresented and winners will forfeit any ribbons and/or prizes. The entrant represents and warrants to SFQE that the entrant’s entry  does not infringe upon, violate, or misappropriate any copyrighted or intellectual property. 

SFQE has the right to use photographs of entries in the Showbook and  social media sites. 

SFQE is not responsible for loss or damage to any entered quilt. SFQE will  make every effort to return the entered quilts in the condition in which  they were received. 

If desired, insurance for the quilt is the responsibility of the  entrant. 

FEES 

The entry fee - $15 per quilt for SFQE guild members, $25 for non-members  in all categories unless otherwise noted. The youth category is free entry. You may enter as many quilts, in any category, as you like. The entry fee is non refundable. 

SELLING YOUR QUILT 

You have the option to sell your quilt at SFQE. It must be indicated on the  entry form. SFQE will handle the sales, collect and remit sales tax to the state, and take a 15% commission on sales. You must complete a consignment  agreement for all prospective sales. Forms will be available at quilt collection  and also available for download on our website.

Quilt entries opens Sunday, Sept 1, 2024 

Quilt entries closes Monday, January 20, 2025, Midnight EST- No exceptions 

Quilt Collection Drop off is Thursday, January 30, 2025, 3-8 pm at Charles F. Dodge City Center, Pembroke Pines, FL 33025 

Quilt return Monday March 10, 2025, 11–3 pm at Charles F. Dodge City  Center, Pembroke Pines, FL 33025
